MY STORY
I’m a mum of three so life is busy. My husband works a lot so it’s down to me to mange the children, the home and our three dogs along with working.
I’ve always loved exercise. I love the way it makes me feel... of course there are days when I really can’t be bothered but when it’s done it’s done and I always feel better. However, over the years I have struggled with healthy eating. I have tried lots of fad diets and they mostly work initially but soon fail once normal eating is resumed. To be honest, at times, I still struggle and often have to reset bad eating habits to establish good ones. These days (at nearly 40) I try to eat for my health and that’s it.
I’m forever in search of tasty and healthy foods that are quick to prepare and, most importantly, it needs to work for the whole family (I am very conscious of trying to get enough good quality nutrition into my boys daily diets) and give me the energy I need. I’m not a chef and my cooking skills are very basic but that doesn’t mean we don’t or can't eat well!
I lost my beautiful mother to cancer when I was 15 and my husband suffered for many years with a life threatening illness that was, thankfully, cured with a Bone Marrow Transplant in 2012. After experiencing first hand how ill health shatters lives, I now want to give myself and my family the best possible chance of leading a long healthy life. For me this means eating lots of vegetables, fruit, nuts, lentils and beans and keeping animal products to a minimum and it suits my body to eat in this way. My boys all eat meat as I feel it’s necessary for my growing children, although I’m definitely working on reducing my husbands consumption!
I know what it’s like to feel heavy, rubbish, sluggish & self conscious in my own skin. The thought of getting my body out on the beach or going to a party when I’ve felt bad about myself is horrible. But, I also know what it is like to feel confident, light, energised healthy and strong. I believe everyone deserves to feel like that. It’s a feeling and not just how we look. Those are my reasons for qualifying as a personal trainer and pre and post natal fitness instructor.
Small changes can lead to great improvements of total well being and that’s what we all want for our bodies and minds.
